Leading Through Disruption
Watch this in-depth conversation
This event is the chance to join the Financial Times and Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Chairman and Founder of INEOS, for a special evening of conversation and networking. Since forming nearly 25 years ago, INEOS, led by Sir Jim, has expanded rapidly after it bought up unwanted petrochemical assets and made the acquisitions profitable by cutting costs and maximising capacity. More recently INEOS’ activities have expanded into sport, consumer goods and car manufacturing. However, the road to the company’s prolific growth hasn’t always been a smooth ride. Over the years the business has faced hard knocks and financial and energy supply shocks that threatened to undermine its success. Controversies relating to issues such as industrial relations, sustainability and tax have been associated with the organisation and its leadership.
In this frank and wide-ranging interview with the FT, Sir Jim will reflect on his life in business and on how he led INEOS through cyclical ups and downs and tackled vulnerability and disruption. He will discuss his attitude to risk and controversy, and share his thoughts on the policies, threats and opportunities set to shape industry and commerce in the years to come.
